About Us
AIM Swim Academy exists to support competitive swimmers with tools that help them train with purpose, stay organized, and keep improving. Through products like the AIM Performance Journal and the AIM Performance Vault, we provide resources designed to help swimmers track progress, set goals, and stay focused on what matters most.
Our approach is built around helping swimmers develop better habits, stronger accountability, and a more intentional mindset. We believe success in the pool starts with the right systems behind the scenes.

Founder
AIM Swim Academy was founded in San Francisco, California, by Brandon James, a lifelong student
of the sport, driven by a deep passion for swimming and an unwavering commitment to helping
athletes realize their full potential both in and out of the water.
From his early days as a competitive swimmer to his evolution into a high-performance coach,
Brandon's journey is one defined by discipline, curiosity, and the belief that true performance begins
with purpose.
Brandon’s competitive career spanned over 12 years, beginning at age ten in the Bay Area, where
he trained with some of Northern California’s most respected programs, including the Terrapins,
Crow Canyon Sharks, and Walnut Creek Aquabears.
A two-time U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier in the 100 and 200 meter backstroke, first earning his spot at just sixteen, along with competing at World Championship Trials, testing himself among the nation’s best. In 2015, he became a National Junior College Record Holder in the 200 yard backstroke while representing Diablo Valley College, setting a standard that held for a decade.
Since 2016, Brandon has brought that same drive and insight to coaching swimmers of all levels, from beginners taking their first strokes to professionals competing on national and international stages. His coaching experience includes collaborations with elite athletes, Olympians, American and world record holders, and coaches from all over.
Beyond the pool, Brandon’s expertise extends to mobility and athletic performance training, having worked with athletes across the Professional Baseball, NBA, European Basketball League, and NFL. His holistic approach emphasizes not only physical capability but also awareness, resilience, and longevity, helping athletes move better, think sharper, and perform with purpose.
At his core, Brandon believes that swimming is a vehicle for growth, a way to shape character, cultivate discipline, and unlock the best version of oneself. Through AIM Swim Academy, he continues to empower every swimmer to AIM higher, swim smarter, and go further, both in sport and in life.
